One of the most popular and successful of ACI programs is the annual awards contest that recognizes excellence in more than 25 categories and promotes craft improvement through competition. The awards competition attracts lively participation among members. First place winners receive a handsome trophy, and certificates are awarded to second and third place winners in each category. Professionals from both the public and private sector evaluate entries and offer written, constructive critiques.
Among the awards categories: Magazines, Magazine Article, News Releases (print and electronic), Special Publications, Radio Programs, Television Programs, Public Service Announcements, Internal Communications, Photography, Web Sites, and Educational Programs. ACI's Awards Committee strives to provide a variety of categories so that smaller member organizations as well as larger may find areas in which to compete.
Entries must represent work from the previous calendar year. Selections are announced at the annual summer conference, where members are treated to a view of the top ranking entries.
Congratulations to all the place winners, but special kudos to all who took the time to gather their entries and submit them for consideration. I hope you found this a valuable tool in craft improvement.
Please take time as you work through this year to consider potential entries for the 2009 ACI Awards Contest. We will be seeking entries beginning in January. The ACI contest is a major fund raiser for the good work that our organization does, it is a fine way to recognize the work that your agency does, and in the long run everyone who takes part in the contest is a winner. I look forward to your participation!
